FOLLOW-UP ON BUSINESS
1. Land sites - Most task members had an opportunity to visit the land sites which are
currently being considered.
2. Draft time line - A draft time line was presented to help focus thinking on the year
ahead. Each task group has been asked to identify their goals and assign dates for those
goals. These will be positioned to give an overall vision of the Project. Time line
discussions and revisions will be ongoing.
3. Advertisement - The advertisement for land to be placed in the River Valley News and
the River Valley Viewer is being formulated.
TASK TEAM REPORTING:
A. Existing Facilities. Craig Patstone
Inventories of church properties are being planned for July.
B. Community Building. Jackie Lohnes
Planning is continuing for activities involving parishioners from all 4 parishes. The
first of these will be a Corn Boil on 13 August 2002 at the residence of Tic Lohnes,
Nerepis Road. Three joint parish services are being planned for fall. The first of these
will be 22 September 2002, the other dates to be announced. Planning will begin in the
near future for the 22 September service.
C. Financial Visioning. Andrew Logan / Keith Lane
Financial data continues to be gathered. The draft operating budget for a new parish based
on the financial information from the existing 4 parishes has been updated from December
2001. Data gathered shows that a new parish could financially support 2 priests. A draft
of the estimated cost of a new structure shows that approximately 1 million dollars will
have to be raised to build the facility. Because expenses are currently being incurred, by
motion, a bank account will be opened in the name of the 4 parishes and each parish will
contribute $500.00 of their budgeted Parish Partnership Initiative money to this account.
Ideas are being gathered for fund raising projects and as there will be costs incurred as
the project progresses those tasks could begin soon.
D. Communication. Cindy Price
The first edition of the four parish newsletter is to be ready for distribution on Sunday,
30 June 2002. The cost of advertising in the River Valley News and The River Valley Viewer
has been investigated.
The Communication Task Team will help inform parishioners of details concerning the
upcoming Corn Boil.
E. Parish Vision. Debbie Black
The Parish Vision Team will be working closely with the Community Building Events Team to
address the need for open consultation and participation by all in beginning to formulate
a new parish vision.
F. New Facilities. Gordon Brown / Wanda Porter
Perspective land sites are being reviewed as dialogue continues with land owners. The
advertisement for available land in the area is being formulated for publication in the
River Valley News and the River Valley Viewer. A tour of St. James' the Less in Renforth
made task members aware of the necessity of planning for future growth.
PROGRESS REPORT TO BISHOP
Each Task Group submitted a report of their area for the action plan as an interim report
to be presented to the Bishop by the pre-determined July 2002 deadline.
GOALS FOR NEXT MEETING
