FOLLOW-UP ON BUSINESS
1. Service Schedule. D. Trivett reported Sunday attendance in Westfield and
Greenwich has been reasonably good during the first few Sundays of September. Parishioners
are strongly requesting at least one service of Morning Prayer per month, led by
layreaders in both of those parishes in order to provide a greater number of Sunday
worship opportunities in the parishes where multiple points are an additional
consideration.
2. Other. Issues including the Glebe engineering study; recent land
inquiry/offer to purchase; parish inventories; 22 September Service planning; Project
visioning process; and fund-raising options will be covered as part of Task Team reports.
TASK TEAM REPORTING:
A. Existing Facilities. Craig Patstone
No Report. Greenwich is in the process of renting its rectory effective 01 October and the
person renting is interested in purchasing should it become available.
B. Community Building. Jackie Lohnes
Arrangements have been finalized for the combined Worship Service on 22 September at St.
Matthew R.C. Church. There has been immense cooperation from Father Hansen in arranging
for the use of the facility. On 05 October at Welsford Golf Club the annual Parish of
Greenwich Golf Fun Day will be held and people from all the parishes are invited to
participate.
C. Financial Visioning. Andrew Logan / Keith Lane
Financial data continues to be gathered to keep the information current. After discussion,
it was decided the proposed yard sale would be a better spring project. Investigation of a
range of approaches to major fund-raising is being done and a report to the Group will
follow shortly.
D. Communication. Cindy Price
An editorial team and a project time line has been developed for the next edition of the
joint parish newsletter. The theme developed for the 27 October issue is "Thanks
Giving." Pictures of Sunday School classes will be taken at the 22 September Service
to be used in the next issue as well as sent to the New Brunswick Anglican.
E. Parish Vision. Debbie Black
Visioning, facilitated by Bill Geldhardt, to produce a Project Mission Statement is
arranged as a meeting sceduled for Wednesday, 25 September at 6:00 p.m. at St. John's
Church. Those attending are the New Parish Vison Task Team, Archdeacon Hall, Archdeacon
Miller, the Rev'd D. Trivett (regrets), Steering Group members, and by request, the
Recording Secretary.
F. New Facilities. Gordon Brown / Wanda Porter
The engineering study on development potential of the Glebe property is still in process
toward completion. The search for available land continues. On 23 September the Town of
Grand Bay-Westfield will release its community development plan and we will try to obtain
a copy for planning purposes. Recent serious inquiries into one particular possibility,
favoured because of location and development potential, has now proven unsuccessful. By
motion, the Group decided to advertise for land in the 2 community papers (River Valley
News and River Valley Viewer) and in the Saturday edition of the Telegraph Journal.
GOALS FOR NEXT MEETING
1. Summary of the visioning session with our Consultant 25 September.
2. Preparation and placement of land advertisement.
3. Fund raising plan.
4. Report from the Grand Bay-Westfield Community Plan.
5. Evaluation of 22 September Service.
6. Planning started for the 08 December Joint Parish Service.
7. Continued planning New Parish Vision process following the completion of Step 1
(Project Mission Statement).
