FOLLOW UP
1. Consultant expense. A decision made at the 30
October work session concerning the quote for the expense of our consultant was ratified
by motion.
2. Replacement for C. Patstone - Gerry Peer was
welcomed to the Steering Group at the work session held 30 October with consultant Bill
Gerhardt.
3. Land Proposal - A formal proposal from a
Developer expressing a land possibility has not as yet been received. Land negotiations
and research are continuing with further reports expected soon.
4. Newspaper advertisement - The advertisement for
land has been placed in both the River Valley News and the River Valley Viewer.
5. Revised Time Line. A revision of the Project
Time Line was shared with the Steering Group for information purposes. Some discussion
resulted as to the reality of the current state of progress. Before accurate prediction of
future milestones can be made, several issues need to see some resolution in specific
order including: land possibilities, new parish vision, and fund-raising initiatives. We
are currently in month seven of Stage 4 (Community Building). The suggested time estimated
for Stage 4 was six months to a year.
TASK TEAM REPORTING
A. Existing Facilities. Gerry Peer
G. Peer will be contacting parish wardens to gather information needed concerning the
inventory of existing facilities.
B. Community Building. Jackie Lohnes
The Combined 4 Parish Advent Service will be 08 December 2002 at Grand Bay United Baptist
Church at 3:00 p.m. The Community Events Worship Planning Team and Worship Leaders will be
meeting soon to plan the service. The dates chosen for the Visioning Consultations are 24
November 2002 and 01 December 2002. Confirmation on locations is awaited. Arrangements
were discussed regarding child care needs and transportation for the sessions. The voice
mail at St. John's Church will be used to handle requests for child care and
transportation needs. All youth of our parishes should be encouraged to attend a
Consultation.
C. Financial Visioning. Andrew Logan / Keith Lane
There is not enough money in the PPM account to meet the expenses that will be incurred
for costs of the Visioning Consultations. This is an equal partnership and by motion each
Parish Corporation will be asked for a further $1000.00 contribution. Information
continues to be gathered for fund-raising initiatives.
D. Communication. Cindy Price
The Newsletter was published on schedule 27 October. Copies have been left at Anglican
House and others mailed to those with specific interest. Advertisements for the Visioning
Consultations will be placed in the River Valley News and the River Valley Viewer. Other
media venues are being explored, including newspaper editorials and radio interviews. The
Communications Team recommends that every family be sent an invitation to attend a
Consultation most convenient for them. By motion a mission statement banner, 4 feet by 10
feet, will be purchased for current and future use and Consultation support costs were
approved.
E. Parish Vision. Debbie Black
As agreed upon previously by the Steering Group, step two of the visioning process (Vision
Consultations) will take place near the end of November 02 with the Community Building
Team assisting on physical arrangements and the Communications Team assisting with getting
the word out. The data collected from the Consultations (reactions and insights), with the
help of our Consultant, will be used for step three (creating a new parish vision). Step
four is the presentation of the Vision to the partnership members.
F. New Facilities. Gordon Brown / Wanda Porter
Maps representing the current land options were reviewed and discussed. It was recommended
that Steering Group members take the opportunity to walk the sites now under consideration
to get a first-hand sense of their adequacy/possibility.
