TASK TEAM REPORTING

A. Existing Facilities. Jack Morris for Gerry Peer
Building inventories are nearing completion. The Diocesan Historic Properties Subcommittee is preparing a slide presentation of photographs and information gathered from their visits to the churches. The subcommittee will also give a numeric historical evaluation of the buildings.

B. Community Building. Marion Lucas Jeffries
Planning continues for the 4 parish joint services being held Maundy Thursday at St. John’s Church, Grand Bay and Good Friday at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, Westfield. The preacher for Good Friday will be the Ven. Claude Miller, Coadjutor Bishop elect. The Team continues to gather information for an inventory of those currently fulfilling ministries in the existing parishes. A PWRDF youth event, "Side by Side" open to all area youth is being planned for 31 May 2003.

C. Financial Visioning. Andrew Logan / Dick Black
The summary of financial assets for all parishes has been updated. The Team is contacting those from the parishes who attended the Diocesan Stewardship Conference last fall to potentially begin to refresh and build a team for financial development planning. Archdeacon Miller pointed out that a regional workshop on this subject in June is being planned by the Diocesan Stewardship Committee. 

D. Communication. Cindy Price
The summary of vision and pre-parish meeting materials were circulated prior to the 30 March 2003 vote. Planning has begun for the next issue of the "The River’s Light."

E. Parish Vision. Debbie Black
The summary Vision was prepared for circulation and gratitude is expressed to those who assisted with its preparation and circulation.

F. New Facilities. Gordon Brown / Wanda Porter
A summary of detailed information on past and current potential building sites was circulated to Steering Group members. Land possibilities continue to be explored and reviewed. Some inquiries have been made with other denominations in the community in terms options for interim worship facilities. A future visit to the Parish of St. George to explore the new St. Mark’s Church is seen to be beneficial and the Team will attempt to organize a visit before the end of April for Steering Group members.

BUSINESS

1. Parish meetings 30 March, 2003. Review and discussion of the meeting process for 30 March 2003 suggested some options for dealing with unique situations that may occur. The format of the ballot to be used was presented, modified and approved. The criteria for those eligible to vote is contained in Canon XIX. Scrutineers are to be appointed at each parish meeting and ballots counted at the meeting with results reported immediately.

2. Steering Group future. Due to the anticipated new focus that will be necessary after the 30 March meetings and vote, vestries at their April meetings will be asked to give members of the current Steering Group authority to work closely with the Bishop in giving direction on matters pertaining to the intended new parish and corporation.

3. Interim worship arrangements. Planning is beginning on arrangements for suitable space for services from June through August. Archdeacon Miller will co-ordinate with our Bishop in exploring negotiation with the Roman Catholic Bishop of Saint John regarding options using of area RC churches. Space with denominations will also be explored.
