In opening
remarks, Archdeacon Miller said how pleased he is to have Archdeacon
Hall as his Executive Assistant. The meeting held in the Parish
of Greenwich with the parishioners and Bishop Hockin on 21 May 2003 has
been seen as positive. The amalgamation date for the Parish of
Greenwich is a later date. Canon Trivett is leaving at the end of
August to assume another appointment. Archdeacon Miller asked for
prayers for the next few weeks.
FOLLOW UP
1. Property and Facilities.

Westfield United Church is being explored as a worship space for
fall. The church seats 200 people, has a large hall, and has
available service times. Land options continue to be
explored. Several land options continue to be explored.
2. Financial Visioning
Stewardship. Dick Black / Don Trivett
Representatives attended the Ministry and Stewardship Workshop that the
Diocesan Stewardship Education Action Team had conducted. It was
learned that stewardship is not an answer in itself as it primarily
needs to be a plan for ministry. Stewardship is a spiritual
discipline of overall management and attitude, not just financial
issues and fund raising.

The Projected Receipts and Disbursements for the new Combined Parish
has been prepared to be included with the Parish Profile.
3. Communications.
Cindy Price
The Task Team has been working on a draft form of Parishioner
Profile. A software package designed to develop a database of
information with various reporting abilities, is being researched. The
4th issue of The Rivers' Light newsletter will be distributed Sunday,
08 June 2003.
4. Bishop's Advisory.

The Parish Profile has been prepared for presentation to the Bishop in
advance of the Interim Advisory Committee on Appointments meeting with
the Bishop on 12 June 2003.
BUSINESS
1. Christian Education
(update)
Two meetings have been held with the Sunday School teachers and the
Rev’d Pat Drummond (Diocesan Christian Education Director) and a third
is scheduled. Curriculum for fall is being researched.
2. Pastoral Leadership and Staffing.
Music leadership is being consulted as to involvement and role in the
future. It is with regret that the resignation of Emily
Wallace who holds a contract as Director of Music with the Parishes of
Grand Bay and Ketepec has been received effective 31 August 2003.
Gordon Taylor is willing to continue in his sexton position at St.
John's Church until the end of August. Sandra Morton has agreed
to continue as Administrative Assistant and the Parishes of Grand Bay
and Ketepec currently have a letter of understanding with her. Karen
Scovil and Charlotte Hutcheson do not wish to continue their work with
bulletins preparations.
3. Nominating Committee.
The Bishop's Advisory Team will be meeting soon to address the task of
new parish corporation nominations and have asked the Steering Group
members to signify their intentions as to whether they will allow their
name stand for nomination for parish leadership positions. A
notice will appear in the weekly bulletin inviting suggestions for
nominations.
4. Fall Parish Event (Corn Boil)
By motion the decision on whether to hold a fall parish event is
being left to the new corporation.
5. Financial Strategy for the Future.
The Stewardship Task Team will continue to build a Stewardship Team.
6. Fall Worship Space.
By motion the Property and Facilities Task Team will continue to
investigate all costs and consequences of using Westfield United Church
for services beginning in September.
7. New Parish Name.
Archdeacon Miller announced the name for the parish which Bishop Hockin
has chosen as the Anglican Parish of the Nerepis and St. John.
8. Parish Meeting.
There will be one service on 13 July 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James'
Church. The Parish meeting for the purpose of electing officers
for the corporation and setting a budget for the new parish will be
held immediately following the service. Parishioners will be
asked to bring their own picnic lunch for fellowship following the
meeting.
